To prove the concept of the micro power station it was necessary to build a much smaller prototype , one that potentially could be put into a home.
The prototype is a combination of a heat pump and heat engine. The heat pump is necessary to collect heat, raise the temperature and pressure of the working fluid to a level suitable for operation of the heat engine. The system utilises electrical and heat feedback to achieve a high level of performance.
The system is capable of converting low grade heat to electricity using a modified Rankine Cycle.
The house system should be sufficiently powerful to power a typical Australian house and transmit additional power to the grid or charge electric vehicles.
